Frequently Asked Questions
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY RUG?
You’re playing the long game! With regular vacuuming and spot treatments, your rug will be properly taken care of. All of our rugs come professionally cleaned. If you are interested in a professional cleaning, be sure to find a local specialist near you - oriental carpets require special attention and care. Harsh chemicals are their enemy!
Here are some tips to make the most of your purchase:
While natural fibers are more resistant to stains, make every effort to spot clean quickly if a spill occurs.
Vacuuming helps remove dust and debris that can erode natural materials over time.
If you have heavy furniture placed atop your rug, try to rotate or slightly adjust positioning a few times year. This helps with indents and creases.
For sun exposure, likewise rotate your piece a few times a year to distribute UV impact and limit fading.
how do i measure for my space?
While we believe homes are personal sanctuaries and each one is worthy of its own style, there are some best practices you can follow.
Generally, a rug should take up space in a room. If too small, it looks odd and/or disproportionate to the size of your furniture and decor.
For dining and living spaces, you’ll want the rug to extend beyond your furniture. For example, a rug should extend 1 ft out on either side of a dining table to account for chair placement. The aforementioned general rule of thumb also stands true here - bigger is better!
For hallways, nooks and crannies, and smaller spaces, it’s important the rug ‘fit’ the space - always try to leave room on either side (you don’t want it pushing up against baseboards).

what’s the difference between antique and vintage?
All of our products are anywhere from 30 - 100+ years old. This contributes to their value as the more love and life a rug, carpet, or kilim experiences, the more patina exists.
Different shops and/or rug dealers will have various definitions of what it means to be antique. To us, we define an item antique if it is over 100 years old. We have select antique items and mostly vintage items.
