Kilims are flat tapestry-woven rugs that date back centuries, with some historians citing origins to the 5th century in China. They are traditionally made in Turkey and parts of Iran. Kilims are woven in a way that showcases the design on the front and back of the rug. They tend to boast bold, geometric patterns.
The Farsi word for Kilim is ‘gelim,’ which translates to a pileless, woven textile.
